BIOGRAPHY
Bertrand Dutoit has worked in many aspects of applied superconductivity. He did a PhD work on dynamic magneto-optical observation of intermediate state in type I superconductors, developping EuSe magneto-optical thin films allowing some of the first videos of flux flow in lead sample at 4 Kelvin. He did high precision transport AC losses measurements in High Temperature Superconductors (HTS) at EPFL. His main activities are now on superconducting device numerical modelling with Finite Elements (FEM), AC losses calculations, HTS cables, Fault Current Limiters (FCL) and dynamical Hall probes magnetic field mapping. Since he joined the Circuits and Systems Lab at EPFL in 1992, which became later the Laboratory of Non Linear Systems, he supervised several thesis on modelling of non linear HTS tapes, hysteresis in superconductors, HTS devices for power application and more recently FCLs. He made EPFL participating in several Swiss and European projects on applied superconductivity, mainly on HTS AC losses and device modelling. He is teaching Applied superconductivity to EPFL Electrical Engineer Master students since 1999.
