MISSION
The presence of micropollutants in water is a recent problematic that has to date focused on their occurrence and fate in wastewater and river waters. Though some studies have investigated their degradation in lake water columns, the variety of studied compounds is limited and the current state of knowledge on their fate and impact on a mid-sized water body such as Lake Geneva far from satisfying. My thesis project aims to investigate the presence of a large assortment of micropollutants, the mechanisms involved in their degradation (mainly photodegradation), and the factors influencing their fate in water.

Florence graduated in environmental sciences and engineering at EPFL in 2008. During her studies she did a one year ERASMUS exchange at Universidad de Granada, Spain. She minored in environmental Biotechnologies and studied the occurence of pathogenic E.coli in coastal areas for her master's project at Stanford University, USA. Since 2009, she joined the Environmental Chemistry Laboratory of EPFL, and is investigating the presence and fate of micropollutants in Lake Geneva.
