MISSION
PhD doctoral assistant in the Doctoral Program in Mechanics since December 2008.

PhD thesis dealing with computational methods for slope stability analysis under the supervision of Prof. Laloui of the Laboratory of Soil Mechanics.

Current research focuses on the constitutive and numerical modelling of soil behaviour in the context of landslides:

- Modelling the initiation of shallow slips and debris flows in the context of multiphase continuum mechanics, in particular unsaturated soil mechanics.

- Modelling the behaviour of large landslides displaying in general low displacement rates.

- Soft-computing techniques for the prediction of landslide behaviour (i.e. neural networks).

Project activities:

- EC FP7 SafeLand: Living with landslide risk in Europe

with contributions to:

- CCES TRAMM: Triggering of rapid mass movements
- CCES COGEAR: Coupled seismogenic geohazards in Alpine regions
- NAGRA: Swiss agency for nuclear waste disposal

Activities as teaching assistant in the Civil Engineering Department:

- Groundwater flow
- Soil mechanics
- ENAC faculty course: Natural hazards in mountaineous regions
- Mountain Risk Intensive Course: Multi-technique Landslide Investigation for Hazard Assessment.
- MAS (Master of Advanced Studies) Tunneling: Soil mechanics module
- Student semester and master projects

Other activities:

- Conference co-organiser and co-editor of the proceedings of the First EPFL Doctoral Conference in Mechanics, February 19, 2010.
- Member of the organizing committee of the 2nd ALERT Olek Zienkiewicz Local School at EPFL, Lausanne, July 4-9, 2010.
- Webmaster of the LMS website 2009-2010.
