RESEARCH INTEREST

Optimal light conditions are not only for vision but also to entrain the endogenous biological clock in humans. As we spend a fair amount of our time inside of buildings, the interaction of circadian rhythms and sleep in determining daily patterns of human physiology and performance becomes an important research topic in building science. We are interested in the physiological and neurobehavioral responses to light in humans. Thereby, the endogenous biological clock and the novel photo receptors in the retinal ganglion cells play a pivotal role. We are investigating the effects of (day-)light in the laboratory and in the field.
