BIOGRAPHY
|
I am a research assistant (cryptographer) and PhD. student since September 2008 in Security and Cryptography Laboratory (LASEC) at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne (EPFL) working under supervision of Prof. Serge Vaudenay. I graduated with distinction from University College London (UCL) (Adastral Park Research Center, Martlesham, Suffolk), thesis entitled "Algebraic Cryptanalysis of Ciphers and Elimination Methods" under supervision of Dr. Nicolas T. Courtois on Sep 2008. Last but not least, the focus of my bachelor project was based on Grid Computing over a bunch of Linux machines.
Research Interests
Any cryptanalytic topic that links theory to practice, I believe that currently most time and effort in cryptography is spent to prove security under some fairy tales assumptions which can never be held in practice, why? because we usually can not achieve anything better. I think it is a necessity to redefine the current notions. My research is mainly focused on:
Computational Cryptanalysis of Symmetric Cryptosystems (mainly block ciphers) and their efficient implementation methods, more precisely:
Applications of Statistics in Cryptanalysis of Block Ciphers
Algebraic Cryptanalysis
Side Channel Attacks and Security of Smart Cards
Lightweight Cryptography
