BIOGRAPHIE Thomas Guignard nait à Hawkesbury, Ont au Canada en juillet 1979. Après une enfance passée à Premier, dans le Nord Vaudois, il suit son école de maturité au Gymnase Auguste Piccard, à Lausanne, où il obtient le Baccalauréat Cantonal (latin-grec-mathématiques) et la Maturité Fédérale (latin-grec) en 1998. En 1998, il entre à l'Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Zürich (ETH Zürich), pour y suivre ses études au Département des Technologies de l'Information et d'Electricité. En 2003, il obtient son diplôme d'ingénieur EPF en électricité. De 2003 à 2006, Thomas Guignard a été assistant-doctorant au Laboratoire d'Electromagnétisme et d'Acoustique (LEMA) à l'EPFL, pour y écrire sous la direction du Prof. Vincent Martin (CNRS-F) sa thèse, qu'il a défendue avec succès en octobre 2006. Depuis septembre 2006, il a pris les fonctions de responsable des acquisitions dans les domaines des Sciences et Techniques de l'Ingénieur à la Bibliothèque Centrale de l'EPFL. En mai 2007, il est nommé responsable du service de développement des collections. Durant ses études, il a accompli plusieurs stages pratiques: - En 1998, chez Theodore Höhns KG à Mölln, en Allemagne, il travaille au sein de l'équipe de maintenance d'une chaîne de production automatisée. - En 2000, il participe à l'élaboration d'un système de contrôle de production chez ABB Industrie AG à Birr/AG. - De 2000 à 2002, il travaille au sein du groupe de support informatique de son département à l'EPFZ. - Travail de semestre sur un composant wearable en 2001 (Institut d'Electronique, EPFZ) - Travail de semestre sur une sonde ultrasonique en 2002 (Institut de Techniques Biomédicales, EPFZ et uni Zürich) - Travail de diplôme en 2003 à l'EPFL sous la direction du Prof. Vincent Martin (LEMA) sur l'acoustique des verres.
