Biography
Antoine Hoffmann is originally from Geneva and embarked on his academic journey in 2013 by enrolling in a Bachelor's degree program in physics at EPFL. He had the opportunity to spend a year studying at HU Berlin as part of his undergraduate studies. Subsequently, he pursued a Master's degree in Computational Science and Engineering at EPFL, where he actively served as the representative for the master students. During this period, he undertook a six-month internship at Saint-Gobain Recherche in Paris, where he focused on the modeling of industrial centrifugal casting. Then he conducted his Master's thesis at the Insitut Für Fluid Dynamik at ETH Zurich in simulation of transport in natural porous rocks.Currently, Antoine is a PhD student at the Swiss Plasma Center, working on a novel method for simulating fundamental turbulent transport mechanism in fusion plasmas.
In addition to his research responsibilities, Antoine has been actively involved as a representative for PhD students since 2020 and became a member of the EPFL School Assembly in 2022. Through his roles, he actively contributes to voicing the concerns and opinions of fellow PhD students, fostering a constructive dialogue and striving for positive changes within the academic community.
