Courses

ORPER summer school

This summer school will provide PhD students knowledge on the different practices that they can adopt from the beginning of their research journey onwards, to improve the quality, transparency, shareability and reproducibility of their work.

Advanced bioengineering methods laboratory

Advanced Bioengineering Methods Laboratories (ABML) offers laboratory practice and data analysis. These active sessions present a variety of techniques employed in the bioengineering field and matching a quantitative and technological based approach.

Science and Policy - How to Bridge the Gap?

The summer school includes an introduction to open science, talks by researchers involved in policy making, an overview of the framework for scientilic research, workshops on science communication, and presentations on initiatives for public engagement regulatory in science.

Correlative Microscopy Summer school

Provide a comprehensive overview of available correlative microscopy workflows and modalities, with their benefits and limitations, as well as the knowledge of the instrumental and sample preparation requirements of each combinalion with hands-on workshops to apply !hem in future research projects.

Structural mechanics for SV

This course aims to provide a concise understanding of how materials and structures react to loads. It covers the basics of stress and strain in multi dimensions, deformation and failure criteria. The course is tailored to problems students from life science might encounter.

Metrology

The course deals with the concept of measuring in different domains, particularly in the electrical, optical, and microscale domains. The course will end with a perspective on quantum measurements, which could trigger the ultimate revolution in metrology.

Metrology practicals

The student will get familiar with the techniques learnt in class (MICRO-428) and will put them to practice with experiments in the laboratory. There will be a practical training for each theme covered in class; the students will also learn good practices during measurements (lab notebook included).
