Tugba Kilic was born in Bursa, Turkey. She received the B.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering and double major degree in Bioengineering both from Ege University, Izmir Turkey in 2009 and 2010 respectively. She also got the M.Sc. degree (2011) and PhD degree (December, 2015) in Biotechnology department, Ege University.
During her master's study, she developed electrochemical biosensors for anticancer drug detection and for her PhD, she focused on detection of cell secretoms for early cancer diagnosis, liver and cardiac damage.
She joined Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology in 2014 and worked in 'organs-on-a-chip' project for one year to develop fully automated, microfluidic based electrochemical immunosensors for detection protein biomarkers.
She has been working as a Post-doctoral Researcher in the Integrated System Laboratory (LSI) at EPFL since January 2016 and recently has been selected as 2016 EPFL Fellow co-funded by Marie Skłodowska-Curie. In the context of the project, she will be working in collaboration with LSI and Microsystems Laboratory 4 (LMIS4) labs to develop integrated microflulidic and tissue engineering based platform for chemotherapeutic drug screening for breast cancer until the end of February 2019. After that, by May 2019, She will head to Harvard Medical School as a SNSF Postdoc Mobility Fellow for two years.
