Urban habitat and developement

Focusing on the housing of the Poorest in Southern countries and contexts of crises due to natural disasters or wars, in particular architecture of emergency (slums, refugee camps...), the course proposes a critical analysis of global urbanization in 21st Century.

UE D : Territory and society

The TUD has as objective to familiarise students with the observational methods of social sciences by developing reflexions on the users and their relations to public and private spaces in Swiss towns. Students will develop surveys on their social a practices.

Living in emergency

PENS-217 offers a technical and social understanding of emergency housing. To do this, it will be a question of designing a habitable refugee camp, then building a shelter and its sanitation equipment using a kit of materials of the type distributed as a humanitarian response.

Ludic streets

This course focuses on the design of public space and its relationship to uses. Through the lens of the child's place in the city, students will construct playful installations in the context of a street redesign program led by the City of Lausanne.
