Götz Menzel was born in Hamburg in 1973 and was raised in Germany and the UK. After having finished his studies at the University of Stuttgart and at the EPFL, he lived and worked in New York from 2001 to 2005. He joined the office of Herzog & de Meuron for four years before becoming a practicing architect in the Valais in collaboration with Catherine Gay Menzel. In 2010 he became head of teaching at lapa.
