Fields of expertise

Dr. Solaiman Shokur is a neuroengineer and scientist. He obtained his Ph.D. (2013) and master (2004) at EPFL.
He is currently senior scientist at the Bertarelli Foundation Chair in Translational Neuroengineering in Geneva.  
His work involves the development, and validation of new technologies to restore sensory-motor functions for patients with complete paraplegia and upper arm amputation.  
His area of expertise includes virtual reality for rehabilitation, invasive and non-invasive brain-machine interfaces, and haptic devices.

Fundamentals of neuroengineering

Neuroengineering is at the frontier between neuroscience and engineering: understanding how the brain works allows developing engineering applications and therapies of high impact, while the design of new measurement and data analysis techniques contributes to advance our knowledge about the brain.
