Courses

Imaging optics

Introduction to optical imaging systems such as camera objectives and microscopes. Discussion of imaging formation. Principles of design of imaging optics with geometrical optics and analysis with raytracing. Presentation of different applications in photography and microscopy.

Optics laboratories I

This laboratory work allows students to deepen their understanding of optical instruments, optoelectronic devices and diagnostic methods. Students will be introduced in state of the art optical instruments and measurement principles.

Optics laboratories II

This laboratory work allows students to deepen their understanding of optical instruments, optoelectronic devices and diagnostic methods. Students will be introduced in state of the art optical instruments and measurement principles.

Optical Computing

(Coursebook not yet approved by the section)

3D Printing with light

Optical aspects of 3D printing technology. This includes optical systems for scanning and excitation, photopolymers, glass and other photoactive materials, and optical components fabricated with 3D printing technology.

Deep Learning for Optical Imaging

This course will focus on the practical implementation of artificial neural networks (ANN) using the open-source TensorFlow machine learning library developed by Google for Python.
