Biography
I did my PhD under the supervision of Tamas Hausel at EPFL and the Institue of Science and Technology Austria . From 2017-2019 I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Sorbonne University Paris 6 with François Loeser. Since September 2019 I hold the chair of arithmetic geometry at EPFL as a tenure track assistant professor. For more information see my CV.
I work in algebraic and arithmetic geometry. My research uses ideas from p-adic and motivic integration to study the interplay between geometric and arithmetic aspects of the cohomolgy of algebraic varieteis. We have found applications of the ideas to moduli spaces appearing in mirror symmetry, the Langlands program and enumerativ geometry.

Vernet Tanguy François Jérôme ,Courses
Algebra I - fundamental structures
The aim of this course is to introduce and study the basic notions of abstract algebra.
Topology II - fundamental groups
We study the topological notions of union and quotients of spaces; we discuss covering spaces and fundamental groups further, The notion of cell attachement is introduced and the Seifert-van Kampen Theorem is proven. Examples of surfaces illustrate the techniques.
Algebraic geometry I - Curves
Algebraic geometry is the common language for many branches of modern research in mathematics. This course gives an introduction to this field by studying algebraic curves and their intersection theory.
Student seminar in pure mathematics
This seminar will be an introduction to homological algebra, a tool widely used in topology, algebraic geometry and many other modern areas of mathematics.
