Biography
Michela Bonomo is a trained architect pursuing a PhD in History and Theory of Architecture at EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) in Lausanne. Her doctoral research critically examines the proliferation of seaside holiday villas in Italy after WWII.Michela teaches as part of TPOD Lab (Theory and Project of Domestic Space) at EPFL and has been invited as an external critic for master’s projects at London Metropolitan University, the Architectural Association, and the University of Brighton. Together with three fellow Ph.D. candidates, Michela launched Doc.Days EDAR in April 2023, an annual doctoral symposium aimed at fostering dialogue and collaboration across labs at the Doctoral School of Architecture. She also serves as one of the four Ph.D. representatives for the Doctoral School of Architecture within the collective Quatre.
Michela has been a practicing architect since 2016, gaining professional experience at Foster Partners and Herzog & de Meuron, as well as through freelance projects in London, Mallorca and Milan. She trained as an Architect at London Metropolitan University, the Architectural Association, and University of Westminster (RIBA Part 3). Her architectural work has been showcased at the Lisbon Triennale, AA Project Reviews, and Something Curated. Her writing has been published in Burning Farm, Dimensions Journal, and OASE.
