Biography
Akhil Arora is a PhD student advised by Prof. Robert West of the Data Science Lab (dlab) at EPFL and an external research collaborator of the Wikimedia Foundation. Prior to this, Akhil spent close to five years in the industry working with the research labs of Xerox and American Express as a Research Scientist. He is a recipient of the prestigious “EDIC Doctoral Fellowship” for the academic year 2018-19 and the Most Reproducible Paper Award at the ACM SIGMOD Conference, 2018. My research aims to model user behavior in real-world Web-scale systems: drawing insights about how users browse the Web, seek knowledge, influence others, and get influenced by others to name a few. Specifically, my focus is towards devising machine learning and data mining methods for real-world Web-scale data that manifests itself in the form of graphs or text.Education
