Courses

Urban Thermodynamics

This course introduces the analysis of urban areas from a thermodynamics perspective, considering the heat exchange between different urban elements (buildings, vegetation, water surfaces, ground, and environment). Urban heat island effect and outdoor comfort topics are also discussed.

Thermodynamics of comfort in buildings

This course provides an integrated approach to analyzing human indoor thermal comfort by examining the correlation between the thermodynamic processes in buildings, human thermoregulation, local thermal sensation of occupants, and outdoor environment.

Building energetics

The course presents the fundamentals of energy demand in buildings while emphasizing the need for the comfort of occupants (thermal and air quality). In addition, trade-offs between energy and comfort are discussed.

Mission Asclepios: Terrestrial lunar base

This ENAC week provides students the opportunity to conduct an analysis of the interior conditions of an analog lunar base used by Asclepios to conduct simulated space missions, and to learn more about the challenges of designing controlled interior spaces in extraterrestrial environments.
