Biography
I am running for a position on the EPFL Assembly and SV School Council, committed to driving meaningful change within our academic community to create a more supportive, inclusive, and diverse environment.I believe that the PhD student body is currently underrepresented in the decision-making process. If elected, I commit to being a strong advocate for all PhD students, ensuring that your voices and concerns are not only heard but actively addressed with concrete actions. With the reinstatement of ACIDE, the association representing PhD students, postdocs, and scientific staff, we now have a greater opportunity to voice our concerns and advocate for initiatives that improve the wellbeing of PhD students.
My varied roles across campus have equipped me to effectively represent and support the interests of our PhD student body. During my tenure at EPFL, I have been deeply involved in several initiatives aimed at enhancing both the quality of life and academic opportunities for our students:
- As part of the ADSV Coaching initiative, I provided counseling and guidance to first-year PhD students in life sciences, aiding them in overcoming the initial challenges of their academic journey at EPFL.
- On the Institute of Bioengineering Mini-Symposium Student Committee, I facilitated and moderated discussions, fostering richer academic dialogue among researchers.
- As a PhD student representative for EDBB, I helped organize the hiring days and supported fellow students during critical periods, such as lab transfers (n=3).
- As the newly elected Treasurer of ADSV, I am dedicated to organizing events, managing finances, and securing funding to sustain and enhance student life initiatives.
- Within PolyDoc, I led efforts to improve catering and sports facilities for PhD students and tackled issues such as mental health and annual reporting. My participation in doctoral and restaurant commission meetings has provided me with deep insights into EPFL’s administrative processes and a unique platform to advocate for our collective concerns.
- Enhance Communication and Transparency: I will advocate for clearer and more frequent updates regarding decisions that affect PhD students, ensuring that our voices are heard and valued.
- Address Mental Health and Systemic Issues: I will strive for stronger support systems that include better access to mentoring, counseling, and guidance for PhD students.
