Junrui Chen achieved his BSc. degree in Mechanism and its automation from Beihang University (BUAA), Beijing, China in 2017. Meanwhile, he also received a second degree in Business administration and management.

He completed his MSc in Mechatronics and Information Technology at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany, in 2021. During his master's studies, he participated in a project at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (BIT) to optimize an interface for ECG/PLT signal detection using MATLAB and implement it using LABVIEW. His master's thesis, titled "Cell Clinic," was supervised by Dr. Vlad Badilita at the Institute of Microstructure Technology (IMT). He established a batch of microfluidic channels, including micro three-electrode cells based on Au-Ag/AgCl-Au as simplified biosensor, for monitoring cell behavior on electro-deposited chitosan gel.
In March 2022, Junrui Chen joined the Bio/CMOS Interfaces Laboratory at EPFL to pursue his Ph.D., focusing on the "In-Memory Sensing" project using bio/nano technology, under the supervision of Prof. Sandro Carrara.
