Stefano Marinoni is a PhD student in the Laboratory of Semiconductor Materials at EPFL, working under the supervision of Prof. Anna Fontcuberta i Morral (EPFL) and Dr. Christian Monachon (Attolight SA). His research explores the use of micro-structured semiconductors for the generation of ultrafast electron beams. He is experienced in the characterization of semiconductor materials by electron microscopy and cathodoluminescence spectroscopy. He previously earned a MSc in Engineering Physics from Politecnico di Milano (Italy). He carried out his MSc's thesis at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), on the electron-conditioning of particle accelerator materials at cryogenic temperatures. He is a fellow of the EPFL PhD Excellence Programme.
