Ella Neumaier
Biography
Ella Neumaier is a Doctoral Candidate at the Laboratory of the History and Theories of Architecture, Media, and Technology (HITAM) at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. Her current research focuses on standardization within global industrial capitalism, specifically the standardization of soil through nitrate extraction between the Chilean Atacama Desert and Germany in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.Ella holds an MA in Architecture (Cultural Heritage, History, and Criticism) from TU Munich and is an editorial advisor to Berlin-based publishing house ArchiTangle. Before joining HITAM, she was a curatorial assistant to numerous exhibition projects at the Architekturmuseum der TUM in der Pinakothek der Moderne, including Who´s Next? Homelessness, Architecture, and Cities (2021).
