Expertise
Structural engineering, reuse of reinforced concrete elements, connection design for reclaimed components, structural timber characterisation, deep learning and computer vision applied to building materials, non-destructive testing, techno-economic assessment of reuse strategies, finite element analysis, circular construction, deconstruction processes, project management, entrepreneurship and innovation in the construction sector.
Mission
Bridging engineering, technology, and entrepreneurship to accelerate the transition toward a more sustainable and circular built environment.
Current Work
Mathieu's PhD research focuses on the structural reuse of cast-in-place reinforced concrete elements, with a particular emphasis on the development of connection systems for saw-cut solid slabs recovered from deconstruction. His work bridges structural engineering, circular construction, and techno-economic analysis to address the challenges of scaling up concrete reuse in practice.
