Alejandro Roda Buch is Assistant Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV, Spain) in the Mechanical and Material Engineering Department. Currently he spends a sabbatical period at EPFL. He has a master degree in Industrial Engineering (Mechanical Engineering specialization) and a PhD in Railway Contact Mechanics (2006) from UPV. He conducted two Postdoctoral researches at EPFL (2006 and 2010) in the fields of mechanical substructuring and modeling of non-linear systems. He was invited professor at EPFL in 2012 in the Tribology and Interfacial Chemistry Group. He is actively participating in developing equipment for measuring contact parameters in tribological contacts, from railway industry to laboratory devices. His scientific interests are mainly focused in the understanding of wear phenomena from mechanical, material and chemical interactions. He is highly motivated in contact and mechanical modeling, data acquisition systems, data science, model validation and testing.
