Mission

Particle Detection, Scintillator, Photodetector Scintillating Fibre Tracker In the context of the ATLAS experiment, we are developing a scintillating fibre detector for the tracking of protons elastically scattered under micro-radian angles in direct vicinity to the CERN LHC beam. For the physics needs, the detector's distance from the high-energy beam should not exceed 100 microns and its spatial resolution should be of about 30 microns both in the vertical and horizontal plane. Microfluidic Scintillation Counter We would also like to study the yield of a liquid scintillator circulating in a microfluidic device coupled to a photosensor. Such a device can be fabricated with standard processes down to dimensions comparable with the actual tracker's resolution.
