Courses

Structural mechanics (for GC)

The course discusses the basic principles of structural mechanics, analyzing the performance of materials and structures against loading and focuses on the stress strain relationships and the effect of axial, bending, shear and torsional loadings on engineer structures.

Advanced composites in engineering structures

1.Introduce topics in properties, processing, mechanical behavior, characterization, analysis and structural design of Fiber Reinforced Composites 2.Help students develop their research skills through independent investigations on research topics

Composites design and innovation

The course offers the opportunity to gain practical experience in the characterization of fiber reinforced polymer and manufacturing/production methods for composite structures. The material is presented by lectures and visits to the laboratory. This is mainly a project based - hands on course

Selected Topics on Advanced Composites in Engineering Structures

The course focuses on the current investigations in the fields of fatigue and fracture of composite materials and composite structural components, like adhesively-bonded joints. Students would be able to develop design concepts for composite structures under realistic loading conditions

Floating offshore renewables

This course challenges students to rethink offshore renewable energy systems and propose new concepts for offshore collection, management, and distribution. Multifunctionality of the proposed floating systems is envisaged to reduce the cost and environmental impact.
