Prof. Camille-Sophie Brès is an Associate Professor in the Institute of Electrical Engineering within the School of Engineering of EPFL and head of the Photonics System Laboratory (PHOSL). She received a bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from McGill University (Montreal, Canada) in 2002, and the PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Princeton University in 2007. She joined EPFL after a postdoc at the University of California San Diego (UCSD),

PHOSL's research is on guided-wave optics and light sources. We focus on leveraging and enhancing nonlinear processes in waveguides for the optimization of light manipulation, exploiting the unique properties of various material platforms  (SiN, AlN, TFLN, SiC ...) combined with advanced device engineering. Our interest lays at the sub-system level and combines theory, design, modeling and experimental demonstrations. As a result, PHOSL work spans across Light sources, Optical Parametric Processes, and Signal Processing, by leveraging the flexibility and versatility of optical nonlinearities
Prof. Brès received  the Early Career Woman in Engineering Award in 2016. She is a senior member of the IEEE, and a fellow of OPTICA.
