Biography
Chiara Cicatiello is a postdoctoral researcher at the Bio/CMOS Interfaces Laboratory in Microcity – Neuchâtel Innovation at EPFL. Her research focuses on electrochemical biosensing for continuous monitoring across a wide variety of clinical applications. She is currently part of an Innosuisse-funded project aimed at developing a smart patch for continuous sweat analysis. She received a BSc in Biomedical Engineering with distinction from the University of Naples Federico II and an MSc in Biomedical Engineering - Bionanotechnologies with honours from the Politecnico of Turin. She completed a 9-month internship at the Centre for Bio-Inspired Technology, Imperial College London, where she developed microfluidics for multiplex DNA amplification assays on CMOS chips. She was awarded an EPSRC Scholarship with the Neurotechnology for Life and Health Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT), earning an MRes degree in Neurotechnology with distinction, and pursued a PhD in the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London. During her PhD, she developed a portable microfluidic electrochemical platform for brain monitoring.
Chiara is the author and co-author of four refereed journal papers (Analytical Chemistry, Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, IEEE TBioCAS). She has attended numerous international conferences and won two Best Poster Presentation Awards, one at the Monitoring Molecules in Neuroscience (MMiN) Conference 2022 in Lyon, France, and another at the Imperial College London Electrochemistry Network Industry Day 2022 in London, UK. She has secured several travel grants and award proposals that have been instrumental in supporting her research. She is a member of RSC, IEEE and BNA.
