Biographie
Daniele Mari graduated in Physics in 1986, and in 1991, obtained his Ph.D. at the Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) in Lausanne, Switzerland, with a study on high temperature properties of hardmetals. The thesis was awarded the Materials Ciba Geigy Prize. From 1992 to 1993 he continues his research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology working in the field of shape memory alloys. In 1993, he joins the company Amysa Yverdon SA (Switzerland) as director of Research and Development and creates ACME (Advanced Composite & Microwave Engineering), the first company resident on the EPFL Science Park. In 2004, he returns to academia at EPFL leading a research group specialized in Mechanical Spectroscopy. D. Mari obtains the title of MER (Senior Scientist) in 2011 and is appointed Adjunct Professor in 2022. He is co-author of more than 100 scientific papers and editor of several books in Materials Science. He is the Deputy Director of the Physics School at EPFL since 2013. He is responsible of the Physics Laboratories for students and of the service of Physics Auditoria.
