This course provides an integrated approach to analyze thermal performance of buildings by examining thermodynamics of heat flows in buildings and correlation between human thermoregulation, thermal sensation of occupants, dynamic indoor and outdoor environment, performance of the building envelope
The course presents the fundamentals of energy management in buildings while emphasizing the need for human comfort. The learning is supported by building energy modeling of a case study building which offers an opportunity to understand trade-offs between energy and comfort.
The EPFL-UNIL campus is today at the heart of an intense institutional reflection on its future masterplan. The ENAC week aims to carry out specific actions on the campus (feasible in one week) starting from a reflection on public space and soil in relation to the challenges of climate change.
