Mission
J'exerce des activités d'enseignement et de recherche en planification énergétique. Mes domaines de concentration sont l'énergie électrique, les carburants et les combustibles. Le but est de concevoir des stratégies durables d'introduction massive d'énergie renouvelable et d'autres formes d'énergie durable dans les systèmes énergétiques conventionnels. Depuis novembre 2003, je suis responsable du laboratoire de systèmes énergétiques (LASEN) devenu en 2008 Groupe de recherche en bioénergie et planification énergétique (BPE). Nos recherches sont orientées vers la conception de méthodes d'aide à la décision en vue d'un développement durable des systèmes énergétiques. Quelques travaux en cours illustrent les recherches effectuées avec mon équipe: - La vulnérabilité de l'approvisionnement en énergie électrique dans des conditions météorologiques extrêmes - Le développement d'une plate-forme de simulation pour l'analyse de cycle de vie des biocarburants - L'analyse et le développement de concepts de bioraffineries de 2nde génération - L'analyse et le développement de méthodes de prétraitement de matières lignocellulosiques en vue de la production de biocarburants de deuxième génération - La modélisation, l'évaluation économique et environnementale de l'approvisionnement en résidus agricoles pour la production de biocarburants de 2nde génération - L'évaluation des émissions de gaz à effet de serre liées au développement des biocarburants en tenant compte des effets directs et indirects sur l'utilisation du sol - La simulation de l'introduction à très long terme de la Fusion thermo-nucléaire dans le système de production d'électricité au niveau de différentes régions du monde - La planification énergétique territoriale appliquée à des communes Je représente le BPE au sein du Centre de l'énergie et du Centre des transports de l'EPFL.Biographie

Comme membre du groupe d'étude du CME sur les vulnérabilités, j'ai développé les métriques utilisées pour évaluer la vulnérabilité énergétique des pays industrialisés. Depuis janvier 2008 : membre du Comité d'édition du journal international Bioresource Technology. Depuis 2009: membre du Comité de la "European Biofuels Technology Platform"Publications
