Biography

Francoise Bommensatt joined EPFL in the VP Finance position in June 2021. She is responsible for developing and implementing EPFL’s financial strategy as well responding to the challenges of transforming the finance function. She oversees the financial planning and controlling, the accounting and treasury operations as well as the internal control and risk management.

With nearly 30 years of senior leadership roles in a variety global businesses (medical devises, technology and education), she has demonstrated valuable contribution and committment in leading financial operations and providing support to changes and strategic development. 

She comes with an impressive track record in leading the finance function in the research and education sectors. 
In 2003 with her strong expertise in financial planning and change management, she joined the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN, Geneva) where she was instrumental in streamlining the financial planning and reporting process for the organisation and at project level.

Her international experience in finance allows her to demonstrate success in driving multiple organizational transformation activities while increasing the efficiency in financial and administrative processes as executive managing director for a leading swiss international school in Geneva.
In 2007 she extended her responsabilities as Group Chief Financial Officer of an alliance of hospitality business schools and played an instrumental role in the strategic development of  the activities in Switzerland and in Asia. 
She actively guaranted quality support to senior management and to schools in the governance as well as in the achievement of an optimal financial performance and in the management of the IT and HR departements for the group.
