Götz Menzel
Götz Menzel was born in Hamburg in 1973 and was raised in Germany and the UK. After having finished his studies at the University of Stuttgart and at the EPFL, he lived and worked in New York from 2001 to 2005. He joined the office of Herzog & de Meuron for four years before becoming a practicing architect in the Valais in collaboration with Catherine Gay Menzel. In 2010 he became head of teaching at lapa.

The studio focuses on contextual imagination. The development of narratives inspired by both a site and the student's imagination leads to a theme that guides the creative process. The architectural idea emerges from a given context.
