This course presents global sustainability issues. It introduces the notions of planetary boundaries and social boundaries and their systemic interconnections. The interdisciplinary approach introduces group work and systems thinking (interdependencies in a complex system).

The aim of this course is to understand these recurrent and disruptive social phenomena that constitute scandals, affairs and controversies, which have in common to be made of mobilisations.

Why do we live in a risk society?

HUM-201

Are we living in a "risk society" ? To answer that question, we will analyze the various social processes (from the invention of probabilities to the rise of insurance companies, from the securing policies to the victims' mobilisations) that contribute to the emergence of risk.
