Biography
Jason Ruan, Ph.D.Senior Engineering Manager | CTO | R&D Expert in Medical Devices
Jason Ruan is an accomplished engineer with over a decade of experience in medical technology and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS). Holding a Ph.D. in Microelectronics, Electromagnetism, and Electromechanical Engineering from LAAS-CNRS, Jason has made significant contributions to both academic research and the development of cutting-edge medical devices. His expertise spans neuromodulation, endovascular diagnostics, and MEMS technologies, with a focus on implantable devices.
Throughout his career, Jason has led pioneering efforts in medical device innovation, playing key roles in the development of novel SEEG products and advanced neuromodulation systems. As the Senior Engineering Manager at Aleva Neurotherapeutics, he spearheaded the optimization of directional deep brain stimulation (DBS) systems and thin-film processes. Prior to this, Jason served as Chief Technology Officer at Adept Neuro SA, where he led the company’s technological advancements, ultimately resulting in its acquisition by DIXI Medical.
His current research revolves around the invention of an endovascular guidewire embedded with MEMS pressure sensors, designed to revolutionize coronary artery disease diagnostics. This innovative guidewire provides real-time mapping of intra-coronary pressure and flow dynamics, significantly enhancing diagnostic accuracy and efficiency.
Jason’s proficiency in medical device standards, including ISO 13485 and ISO 14971, combined with his technical expertise in MEMS and RF measurements, positions him as a leading figure in the field of medical technology. His career is also marked by three patents in neuromodulation and a strong commitment to advancing healthcare through innovation.
In addition to his technical and managerial roles, Jason has contributed to academia by mentoring students and collaborating on industrial projects. Fluent in French and English, Jason’s adaptability and international experience enable him to thrive in diverse and multidisciplinary environments.
