Loan Laurent (Rennes, 1997) is an architect, urbanist, curator, and researcher based in Lausanne, Switzerland. His practice moves between urban and territorial design, research, and curatorial work, exploring how socio-ecological processes, infrastructures, and political conditions shape contemporary territories. He collaborates with StudioPaolaViganò in Lausanne and Milan, contributing to urban and territorial projects, competitions, and planning studies across Switzerland and Europe.

Water has been an important entry point to his research and practice, approached as a territorial subject whose flows and transformations challenge boundaries, technological systems, health, and the planning frameworks through which territories are organised. His research Delta in Transition examined the Rhine–Meuse Delta through the interplay of hydraulic systems, socio-ecological processes, and political transformations. This inquiry was extended through Water Design(s), an exhibition he co-curated at Archizoom EPFL in 2024, which explored water as a subject in the history of the spatial project and as a driver of territorial transformation.

His practice increasingly addresses land, density, governance, and ecological transition through territorial visions developed for public authorities, including PACA Chablais and PDCn Vaud across the transboundary Lémanic Arc, as well as urban projects such as Roma Regeneration 2050 and territorial planning studies in Switzerland and France. Across these different scales and contexts, he approaches the project as a laboratory: a means to reveal territorial relations, make conflicts visible, and construct alternative possibilities for living through socio-ecological transition.

He is a member of the curatorial team of the Swiss Pavilion at the 2027 Venice Architecture Biennale, I am Water, under the direction of Paola Viganò.
