Doctoral Program in Mathematics


Discrete mathematics

Study of structures and concepts that do not require the notion of continuity. Graph theory, or study of general countable sets are some of the areas that are covered by discrete mathematics. Emphasis will be laid on structures that the students will see again in their later studies.

Modular forms and applications

In this course we will introduce core concepts of the theory of modular forms and consider several applications of this theory to combinatorics, harmonic analysis, and geometric optimization.

Semidefinite Optimization and Applications to Geometric and Combinatorial Problems

This course covers the following topics: Introduction to conic optimization, Duality in conic programming, Sums of squares/ SemideFinite relaxation for independence number and chromatic number, Harmonic analysis on [owe, sets, Lasserre's hierarchy, Packing on the sphere

Optimization, interpolation and modular forms

This summer school will explore basic concepts as well as recent developments in optimization, interpolation, and modular forms. There will be short courses as well as several standalone lectures by invited researchers. The school is aimed toward master’s and PhD students and early-stage postdocs.
