Naiara Korta Martiartu is an SNSF Ambizione Fellow at the EPFL Signal Processing Laboratory 5 (LTS5). She obtained her PhD from the Institute of Geophysics at ETH Zurich in 2019, where she worked at the interface between seismic imaging and medical ultrasound. Before joining EPFL, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Langevin Institute in Paris, the University of Bern, and the University Hospital Zurich. Her research focuses on wave propagation, scattering, and inverse problems in complex media. She develops methods to infer the physical properties of media from reflected waves, including wave velocity, scattering, and attenuation. Pulse-echo ultrasound provides the main experimental framework of this work, with applications to quantitative tissue characterization and aberration correction.
