The class looks at the history of photography through the lens of one of the major preoccupations of photographers since the 19th century and the ensuing debates: should it be sharp or blurred?

Picture history I

This seminar examines the importance of blur in the history of representations - photography, painting and cinema - in order to grasp its functions and issues.
