Biography
Dr. Philippe Abdel-Sayed graduated from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in 2009, with a Master degree in Bioengineering and Biotechnology. After completing a PhD in Biomechanics, he was granted a SNSF mobility fellowship to conduct postdoctoral research at the University of California Berkeley (CA, USA) with focuses in microfluidics. He was then the recipient of a prestigious Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship to conduct research at the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV).As a Research Scientist of the Department of Musculoskeletal Medicine (DAL) at CHUV, he is highly involved in the coordination of research projects in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine of skin and musculoskeletal tissues, entailing a strong link with the clinical activities of the DAL, and in particular with its Service of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (CPR) for its translational research with cellular therapies. In 2022, he was appointed the academic title of Senior Lecturer ("Maître d'Enseignement et de Recherche") by the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne (FBM, UNIL-CHUV).
Dr. Philippe Abdel-Sayed has joined the Discovery Learning Laboratories (DLL) team in 2021, managing the Bioengineering domain at the DLL, dedicating thus 50% of his time for practical-teaching support while keeping 50% of activity for translational research.
