History of architecture I,II

" Construction of a Vision " addresses the principles of construction from antiquity to the 18th century: the construction sites from Pharaonic Egypt to Gothic cathedrals; the principles of construction in antiquity and Renaissance; the history of architecture from the 16th to the 18th century.

History of architecture III

The course covers the history of architecture between the 18th and 19th centuries, its greatest architects and its most important buildings, and highlights the technical and artistic issues involved.

History of architecture V/VI

The objective of the course is to provide the student with an in-depth knowledge of the main topics of the architecture of the 20th century, with a special focus on the aspects relating to the building techniques, the structures, the various forms of cladding and space.

Art and architecture

The course aims to explore and analyse the main issues related to the creative processes, the materials and technologies experimented by artists and architects from the 1960s to the present.

Metaphoric projects: from Archizoom to Koolhaas

In the first part of the course, the works of Superstudio and Archizoom will be analyzed. The second part of the course will analyse the work of Koolhaas / OMA. In the third part of the course will study contemporary architecture proposed by the younger generation of architects.

Italian heretics of rationalism

The course traces the fundamental stages of so-called Italian rationalism, from the rhetorical rationalism asserted during the years of fascism to the exalted rationalism after the Second World War.

Visionnaires éclectiques. Architectures, 2000-2018

The course proposes to provide critical instruments for a thorough knowledge of the main themes and personalities that characterize today's architecture.

The course aims to examine the principle of the rationalist project in the light of contemporary technologies and of a new idea of community.
