Biography
Hi! I’m Ren Yi 任一, a master student in the Digital Humanities section at EPFL.I’ve recently signed up for the School Assembly.
As an international student from outside the Western world, I hope to bring more diverse perspectives to our campus, especially student voices from underrepresented countries. I’m also genuinely curious about what’s happening across our campus and want to stay connected with the concerns and experiences of fellow students.
Beyond the everyday responsibilities of a representative — such as collecting feedback from students in my section and communicating with section staff — I’ve also been actively involved in two specific issues:
In Fall 2024, I initiated the survey on “Unfriendly behavior by ETHZ towards certain countries and potential implications for EPFL.” , and reported the situation to student representatives and EPFL board. This helped raise student concerns to the board and hear the opinions from EPFL.
In Spring 2025, after the poufs (large cushions) at the Rolex Learning Center were removed without clear explanation, I started looking into the reasons for their disappearance and reached out to relevant personnel. These cushions offered students a much-needed space to rest during intense study periods, and I believe student comfort should be considered on campus.
