  • The classical problem of the calculus of variations
  • Pontryagin's maximum principle
  • Necessary conditions of optimality (NCO)
  • Dynamic programming and the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation
  • Closed-loop form solution for LQ optimal control problems
