Architect, Co-founder of Truwant + Rodet +
Guest Professor, EPFL – Atelier for Uncertain Conditions

Charlotte Truwant is an architect and co-founder, with Dries Rodet, of the architectural office Truwant + Rodet +. She is currently Guest Professor at EPFL, where she leads the design studio Atelier for Uncertain Conditions. The studio explores the transformation of existing structures at the intersection of architecture and landscape, where time is considered the main protagonist.

Her background, shaped by experiences in Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Japan, along with academic research in landscape urbanism, has deeply influenced her approach to understanding and interpreting existing contexts. This perspective has allowed her to recognize the value of resources beyond the traditional scope of architecture.

In 2018, together with Melissa Freudiger and Dries Rodet, she co-founded the association dasverein, a platform engaging in architectural and art discourse with focus on space making. In 2019 they were part of the cross disciplinary research and design team to develop new tools and methodologies for the Dhaka Art Summit, an environmental approach towards exhibiting. Th

Truwant + Rodet + received the Swiss Art Award in 2017. The office is currently engaged in several major projects, including:
– The renovation of the Centre Culturel Suisse in Paris, in collaboration with ASBR.
– The transformation and extension of a sports center in Bulle.
– The Nauentor transformation project in Basel, with Bruther and Jan Kinsbergen.
– A forthcoming project for inclusive and integrative housing in Zürich.

Through both her practice and teaching, Charlotte Truwant investigates how architectural intervention can meaningfully engage with time, transformation, and existing material realities, embedding environmental concern into spatial proposals.

Courses

Studio BA3 (Truwant et Rodet)

AR-201(an)

Adaptive reuse turns existing sites into resources for reimagining how we live. In Renens, students will explore renovation and transformation to design new forms of living, creating domestic typologies that grow from existing structures and contexts.

Studio BA4 (Truwant et Rodet)

AR-202(an)

In the 2nd semester, we will continue exploring renovation in Renens, focusing on learning spaces. How can we move beyond rigid school standards to imagine reversible, modular, and open places where education unfolds in multiple forms?
