Biographie
Livia E. Bove, is a senior CNRS researcher (DR) and Associate Professor at Sapienza University, now associated scientist at the LQM, EPFL. She has 20 years of international experience in the field of neutron scattering techniques applied to the study of the structure and dynamics of liquids, amorphous and simple crystalline molecular systems. After a PhD thesis on the study, both experimental and computational, of the collective dynamics of liquid metals, she focussed, during her post-doc on the study of the phonon dynamics of tetrahedral glasses. She was then second beamline responsible at the neutron source ILL, and she got her CNRS position at IMPMC in Paris in 2005, where she studied the structure and dynamics of electrolyte solutions and the polyamorphism phenomenon in water and salty solutions. She developed and promoted the use of quasi-elastic and inelastic neutron scattering techniques under high pressure for the study of hydrogenated systems. She discovered, together with S.Klotz, the existence of salty ices under HP, and more recently, the existence of new gas hydrates stable up to Mbar pressures. She was promoter of the observation of the new intriguing possibility to accelerate CH4-CO2 exchange in ice clathrate by P-induced structural coexistence. Her researches required regular and intensive use of large scale facilities, both neutrons and synchrotron radiation, as well as a strong involvement in associated instrumental developments. She is the principal inventor of the patented HP-QENS technique. In the last years she focussed her researches on the study of high pressure ice phases and hydrates. She is the coordinator the molecular science division of the GDR Hydrates. She has been the PI of successful national and international grants (ANR JCJC, ANR Blanc International, FNS, FNS Synergy) for a total amount budget > 2M€.
She has supervised 4 postdocs, 7 PhD theses and various master internships. She is the PI of the on going Exotic Ices project.
