I studied Chemical Engineering at University of Palermo (Italy). Then, I obtained my Ph.D. at the University of Stuttgart, while I was working at the Department of Energy System Analysis of the German Aerospace Center. My Ph.D. project focused on the modelling and integration of separation processes for industrial wastewater purification. In 2020, I joined the Laboratory of Advanced Separations at EPFL to work on the modelling and optimisation of high-performance membrane processes for gas separation. Since October 2024, I lead my independent research group as an Ambizione fellow. My group works on the design of capture processes via multi-objective optimization and we focus on the development of novel methods for the technical, economic and environmental assessment of early-stage separation technologies.
