Collective housing: buildings, rooms, components

This course provides the tools for reading and understanding the architecture of housing. Its urban, typological, spatial, functional, sociological, climatic, cultural, and formal dimensions are explored through three scales: the building, the room, and the element.

Saxa Loquuntur: Culture of construction

PENS-240

The course explores how material extraction, territorial change, trade, local traditions, and industrial production interconnect. By examining scales from territory to building detail, students learn how various professions interact to shape the built environment.

Studio BA3 (Fröhlich M. & A.)

AR-201(ag)

The Studio explores types and typologies to understand how buildings respond to social, environmental, and technological conditions. The first semester focuses on historical drying and storage buildings; the second on transforming tobacco-drying houses in Fribourg into collective housing.
